Bee Houses and Wildflower Seed Balls
Eco-friendly gifts that support garden wildlife and help connect people to nature are one of my favourite types of gifts to give and receive! A couple of Christmases ago I was given a little wooden bee house, which was soon inhabited by some leaf-cutter bees. Watching them fly in and out of the hollow tubes, plugging up the ends with circular pieces of leaves snipped from the rose plants has been a source of fascination for all the family.
Other rewarding gifts for wildlife lovers include nest boxes, bird feeders and wildflower seed balls that can be sown in the garden to provide a variety of nectar plants for foraging pollinators.
